The 47th Fiji Bitter Marist sevens, women competition received an injection of $20,000 from Future Farms Pte Limited Trading as Rooster Poultry at Navau, Ba yesterday. FFPL chief executive officer Stanley Raniga while presenting the cheque to Marist Rugby Club President Lawrence Tikaram said: “Rooster Chicken is proud to have come on board as one of the sponsors, we’re sponsoring the women’s competition.”

This year’s women division was initially set for eight teams but due to high interest, the organiser added another four teams to make it 12.

“In line with our strategy on women empowerment and balancing the room, so to say we’re happy to come on board. “This will be Rooster Chicken’s first sponsored the women’s competition, we look forward to the competition manifesting.” Tikaram said: “The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s has been around for the last 47 years in fact it is one of the very first that introduced women’s rugby into Fiji in terms of clubs and its competitions and for that we are deeply honoured to find some synergies and some things that we can explore together in supporting women’s rugby.”

“We believe that sports play an important part in the development of our ladies in Fiji, it also gives equal opportunity for women to show their true strength not only on the field but also off the field.”

Tikaram said Rooster Chicken’s sponsorship of the Fijiana Drua was a fine example of how two brands could come together to offer hope and inspiration to many young women.

“Having said that, we are also indebted to your sponsorship in terms of wanting to provide that opportunity and how we all can enjoy the quality products of Rooster.”

Tikaram added that during the tournament the organisers would also be giving out complimentary Rooster chicken products and assorted beverages.

“To all the ladies out there please come and support the 12 teams that will play at the HFC Bank Stadium on March 16, finals are on March 18.

The other three divisions in the three day event are the men’s open, Under-21 and Fellow Fijians. com.fj
