Prasad launches self-defense tool business
Swastika Shayal Prasad faced numerous obstacles when starting her business, but her determination helped her overcome them.
The entrepreneur launched her company in 2021 after experiencing a robbery attack incident, and her flagship product, Smart Equipped Tools, is a new product that aims to safeguard people from danger.
The company’s self-defense toolkits are available for both adults and children. The adult kit includes 15 items, while the children’s kit comes in a suitcase with nine items.
According to Prasad, her business is expanding, and more customers are buying her products for themselves and their loved ones.
She believes that her unique range of products is valuable and practical in challenging situations.
The self-defense keychain for women and children contains various tools, and although the adult keychain may appear bulky at first, customers can easily separate them for convenience.
Ms Prasad has seen customers make three to four keychains out of the adult kit, keeping one in the car, one in the purse, and one with their house/office/car keys.
The children’s defense kit is portable and can create two to three keychains while teaching kids about safety.
Ms Prasad started her business with only 15 adult keychains and an investment of $400, but she now offers eight products, including trending items like portable fans, trolley bags for groceries, and
ID card holders forbus and office cards.
The name of her company, Smart Equipped Tools, and its logan “You’re set with S.E.T” reflect the importance of safety. Her product line includes a variety of selfdefense tools for both adults and children.
She is proud that her products have helped many women, and she has received numerous positive reviews.
Although the products are the first of their kind in Fiji, creating awareness in the community has been a roller coaster ride for her.
Despite this, she has gained more than 2500 followers on her business’s Instagram and TikTok accounts in just one year.
Ms Prasad is determined to offer more variety of products to enhance community safety.
Starting a business from scratch is challenging, but she believes that taking the initiative and pushing through is crucial. She advises budding entrepreneurs to take the leap and pursue their dreams because nobody else will do it for them.
