Awards true to Fiji Spirit and its people: Sadranu
We are a nation that stands united and true to the Fiji spirit and its people. FETA Board of Trustees chair Debra Sadranu said the theme Resilience & Recovery says it all.
She added the board of Trustees this year considered the Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards theme and therefore extended the categories from 13 to 20.
She said this made the awards more inclusive allowing more stakeholders and tourism Small and medium-sized enterprisess the opportunity to be recognised for their contribution.
“This decision proved a positive move, with the highest number of submissions ever, to be received for the awards.
“The judges had a mammoth task shortlisting from the numerous amounts of quality submissions. A job well done by them,” she said. The board also made the decision to have shortlisted nominees receive a token of achievement to showcase their outstanding work within the Tourism Industry.
“Here we are post COVID, the pandemic that impacted our Industry and the livelihood of our nation, tonight celebrating the recovery and resilience of not only our stakeholders but our nation at large,” she added.
“Our tourism industry delivery post pandemic is a huge credit to many stakeholders, ground staff, drivers, health workers and all who contributed to making our industry border inbound ready. “Impacting the community as a whole and being instrumental in our recovery. Once again, our theme this evening says it all. Ms Sadranu said the awards celebration is only possible because of the support of ANZ, naming rights sponsor, all of sponsors, action group, and the very diligent secretary Michelle Emberson Duikete. “The board of Trustees are happy that we proudly present an awards event that sees many new faces being recognized for their contribution to our industry. A night of celebration and pride for the biggest tourism event of the year.”
