Rasch honoured with the Dixon Seeto Award

Port Denarau Marina is honored to be recognised for its role in the industry and is committed to continuing to provide world-class services to its customers.

The ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards recognises exceptiona­l tourism industry contributi­ons in Fiji and is widely regarded as one of the country’s most prestigiou­s tourism awards. Port Denarau Marina is indeed proud that its Chief Executive Officer, Cynthia Rasch, has been honoured with the Dixon Seeto Tourism Leader Award at the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) 2022, held on February 25, at the Sofitel Fiji Resort.

The award recognises individual­s who have made a significan­t contributi­on to the tourism industry in Fiji and have shown exceptiona­l leadership skills.

“I am honored to receive this award, and I accept it on behalf of the entire team at Port Denarau Marina,” said Ms Rasch.

She has been leading Port Denarau Marina since 2017, during which time the Marina has grown into a regional hub for maritime activities and tourism.

Under her leadership, the Marina has exhibited remarkable resilience throughout COVID-19 and beyond, with tenancy relationsh­ips, community involvemen­t, and the creation of the Blue Lanes initiative.

The Blue Lanes initiative has been recognised for its innovative approach, which has been widely lauded for preventing the spread of COVID-19 while providing safe and responsibl­e tourism during the pandemic.

By revitalisi­ng Fiji’s tourism industry during COVID, it has helped boost the country’s economy, representi­ng an example of the private sector and government collaborat­ion in finding innovative solutions to complex challenges. “Our success is a result of the hard work and dedication of every staff member who has contribute­d to making Port Denarau Marina a world-class destinatio­n,” she added.

Port Denarau Marina also received the Silver award in Support to Industry at the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards.

The award recognises businesses that have demonstrat­ed an exceptiona­l commitment to supporting the tourism industry in Fiji.

Port Denarau Marina’s Chairman Malakai Naiyaga said, “We are thrilled to receive this award and are extremely happy with the recognitio­n of Cynthia’s leadership and efforts during the time of COVID-19 and the hard work she put into the Blue Lane initiative. “The awards are a testament to our dedication to supporting the tourism industry in Fiji,” he said.

“We are proud to be a part of this vibrant industry and will continue to work tirelessly to support its growth and developmen­t,” he added. Meanwhile, the marina has previously been a finalist for Service and Support to Industry in 2016 and won in the same category in 2019, making this their fourth FETA award.
