- MERELEKI NAI Edited by Karalaini Waqanidrola

The Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua is on track in its preparations to defend the Super W title.

The Inoke Male-coached side walloped the United States-based Rhinos Rugby Academy 38-10 in their friendly encounter at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday. The star of the Drua’s win was

former Adi Cakobau School sprinter Laisani Moceisawa who scored two tries.

The Fijiana side led 15-0 at halftime with three unconverted tries to wingers Milinia Adita, Moceisawana and recalled lock forward Doreen Narokete.

In the second half, Drua added three more tries to Evivi Senikaravi, Sulita Waisega, and Moceisawana with the rest of the points from the boot of Setaita Railumu.

Drua lock Asinate Serevi was grateful to the Rhinos Rugby women’s club for giving them a good competition before their Super W opener against Brumbies at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, next Saturday (March 25)

We still have a lot to work on with our defence and just connecting it as a team,” she said.

“I know we can do better. The girls are ready for the Brumbies game and we have been training

for the last couple of weeks.

“We know we have a couple of new players compared to the players who played last year. The amount of talent that we have I think will be different. It is something that everyone is looking forward to because we have a good combination of the new players and the experienced ones.

Former Fiji sevens maestro Waisale Serevi, was the Rhinos Rugby women’s coach and was happy with the match.

“I want to thank (Fijiana Drua) coach Male for coming over during the review of the Women’s World Cup.

We met for discussion and decided to bring the club over for a game against the Fijiana Drua. “The Drua have a season that starts next week and we know that there are good players playing here at home.”
