Head Prefects to Lead with Humility
Head girl, Shazlin Nisha, says leading 402 students is no easy task, however it can be achieved with able assistance from deputy head prefects and by leading with humility.
Along with Lautoka Andhra Sangam College head boy Shivneel Nand they were among the 56 prefects badged on March 9 during an induction ceremony.
“A true leader will always lead by example, not dictate or be arrogant, work with the team and he/she will inspire and encourage colleagues all the time,” she said.
“It’s an honour but not easy, it comes with a lot of responsibility. So, I just hope that with the help of my fellow school perfects, I’m able to do all the duties in school.”
Even though she was assistant head girl in Year 11 and deputy head girl in Year 12 being badged head girl was still a surprise for her.
“I was not expecting this because the leadership qualities this school demands are a lot. I was surprised they saw these qualities in me so
it’s an honour. We have come up with new strategies, such as the perfects’ allocation and duties so we hope that everything moves smoothly,” she said.
Head boy Shivneel said being a prefect in Year 11 and 12 also helped mould his leadership capabilities. “I will make sure members of the student council work together as a team. So that there is no conflict and we all can do our job properly without any hindrance,” he said.
Primary student heads
Lautoka Andhra Sangam School
(primary level) also had its prefects’ induction on March 3, A total of 123 school prefects were badged to help oversee the school’s 801 students.
Head boy Shreyas Prasad said he would try his best to lead by ex-ample and help his teachers.
He will also work on improving the way students act and talk to teachers.
“I dedicate this achievement to my parents and teachers,” he said.
Head girl Aastha Chandra echoed similar sentiments.
“I will help teachers and prefects,
I also plan to work on students behaviour and personal grooming,” she said.
The deputy head boy for the Lautoka Andhra Sangam College is Aryan Chandra, deputy head girl is Divisha Naidu and the assistant head boy is Harsh Kumar while the assistant head girl is Adi Mere Dilolevu.
The deputy head boy for the Lautoka Andhra Sangam School is Ritvick Naicker and the deputy head girl is Smrithi Kumar.
