Head Prefects Told, Leaders Must Be Fair
Leaders who are fair create an environment where everyone feels valued and heard. This, in turn, fosters a sense of teamwork and collaboration.
Head boy, Sokonaia Tamaya echoed these sentiments during the Sigatoka Andhra Sangam College prefects induction.
He said when leaders prioritised fairness and equity, they inspire others to do the same, which could create a positive ripple effect throughout the school community. “We are able to motivate others to attain countless things and they know when to be outspoken and when to get out of the way,” he said. “The prefects are motivated to balance their leadership roles with their studies as education is the main focus for our students in order to prosper in life as leadership and studies are like see-saw, once unstable it can create difficulties but once balanced it brings opportunities.”
Head girl, Shinam Prasad, said: “This generation is advanced and so are the leaders of the college. “We go beyond our comfort zone to make our school name echo everywhere. We must lead by example to be an inspiration to all,” she said. Nadroga/Navosa education advisor, Janice Nath, told prefects to uphold their roles.
“Remember students, your ability is your power. You are elected to make wise decisions, someone saw the ability in you to control certain difficult situations and somebody saw attributes in you such as diplomacy, the art to understand people’s needs before your own,” she said.
The student council is made up of 110 members which entails 28 form captains, 24 library monitors, 51 school prefects and four deputies.
