Ali wants Win to Continue Family Legacy
Super welterweight boxer Muhammad Ali is a third generation boxer in his family. Tomorrow night, during the Lewis-Hill Boxing Promotions at the FMF Gym in Suva, he wants to continue on that legacy by beating Ezra Volavola.
Ali’s grandfather, the Farzan Ali (Snr) was a former middleweight contender who took on the likes of Krishna Chotka.
His uncle, the late Joy Ali ruled the country’s welterweight, super welterweight and middleweight divisions during his prime.
His late uncle Joy, was a former Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) super welterweight champion and was ranked at 15 by the World Boxing Association (WBA).
Ali’s dad Junior Farzan ‘The Razor’ Ali ruled the lightweight division beating the likes to Mohammed Paiyal, Waisale Ratu, Binnu Singh and Opeti Tagi. In his last fight, the Nadibased boxer was too strong for Saimone Nanovu, winning on a technical knockout.
However, according to the Lewis-Hills Boxing Promotion, Volavola said: “All the trash talk is over, now it’s show time.”
He has promised to end
the Ali legacy with a knockout win.
The main bout is the cruiserweight eliminator between Joseph Kwadjo and Isikeli Senidoko.
For tomorrow, the gate opens at 2pm with the 10 amateur boxing fights starting at 3pm.
