Sabha to invest in environmentalfriendly infrastructures
The investment, despite its substantial cost, could benefit Fijians.

The Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha is planning to invest in an environmentalfriendly project which could benefit Fiji.
Sabha national president Dhirendra Nand said plans were underway to build gas crematoriums in selected areas across Fiji.
This was decided in their annual convention in Nadi during the Easter holidays.
He said the investment, despite its substantial cost, could benefit Fijians. “We are telling our people to move towards green energy, so in the future we are planning to build gas crematoriums in all our centres in Fiji with the help of the Government of the day,” Mr Nand said.
The Enviro Care Engineers website reports that the process of cremation in a gas crematorium involves closed burning, vaporisation and oxidation of a human body into simple chemical composites, such as gases, ashes and mineral remains.
He said the main reason for this was to avoid the cutting down and burning of mangroves which had been used for cremation.
He said the Sabha would also engage in a mangrove replanting programme. “We want to set up a mangrove replanting programme because our ancestors and forefathers have been using mangroves. When somebody dies, we use dogo (mangrove), we cut it and use it.
“Now we are so conscious that we want to replenish it, we want to replant it so in a way we are giving back to nature what we took from nature for a long time.”
