Tributes have flooded social media, including LinkedIn, on the passing away of renown public relations, marketing specialist and radio host, Liga Gukisuva.

Mr Gukisuva, an ardent influencer passed away yesterday. He was 48 years old.

For a long time, he had become synonymous with Vodafone Fiji’s corporate social responsibility arm in sports and other events. He was a regular guest on the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation radio station Bula FM’s prime time Breakfast Show.

Mr Gukisuva was a candidate in 2018 General Election for Unity Fiji. He was the financial advisor at BSP Life (Fiji) Limited at the time of his passing.

He hailed from Vanuavatu in the Lau Province, while his mother is from Sila, Cuvu, Nadroga.

The Fiji Football Association president, Rajesh Patel, in a Facebook post on the association page expressed his shock and condolences, acknowledging Mr Gukisuva’s contribution to footbal. Mr Patel said he had recently met Mr Gukisuva, who appeared fit and healthy.

Mr Gukisuva was employed as Fiji FA’s first marketing manager in 2015.

“It’s shocking because I met him recently and he looked fit and healthy,” Mr Patel said.

“It’s a huge loss. He was a great sportsman and an inspirational leader.

“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rests in peace.”

Inspiring post

One of his last posts on the business and employment-focused social media platform, LinkedIn, was speaking out against all forms of violence.

“Three days ago we buried a young Victorian & a fellow Bau House, he was a victim of assault outside a nightclub last weekend, few minutes ago I saw a video circulating online of what appears to be a billiard centre of another sensless beating of a young fijian man.

“As a society, we must come together to denounce violence and stand up for what is right.

“Violence has no place in our communities and we must all work together to create a peaceful and just society that respects the rights of all individuals.

“It is important that we nurture a culture of kindness, empathy, and understanding, and that we hold ourselves and others accountable for our actions.

“We must not turn a blind eye to violence or allow it to go unpunished.

“The long arm of the law will catch up to those who choose to engage in violent behavior, and with the prevalence of camera phones, there is no escaping the consequences of one’s actions.

“Let us work together to build a better future for ourselves and for future generations.

“Join me in speaking out against violence, and let’s work towards a brighter and more peaceful future for all.

“Yau levu na loloma (Love is a treasure).”
