The project which cost $35,000 was commissioned on Wednesday by the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo. “This water resource will create a better quality of life which is the right of every Fijian in this country,” Mr Vosarogo said. He encouraged the school water committee to take ownership and understand their management roles to ensure the borehole’s sustainability.
“The committee has to monitor, maintain, manage and protect this groundwater resource to ensure future generations could use this as well.”
The groundwater reticulation program was an initiative that started in 2015 and over 6000 people havebenefited from the program. Mr Vosarogo acknowledged the ministry’s scientific and technical staff for completing the project.
