Club helps builds ablution block for Labasa kindergarten
Members of the Naleba Football Federation lent a helping hand when they assisted in building an ablution block for kindergarten students.
Its president Vikranth Chandra, 30, said they used $3500 to build a toilet and a bathroom for Naleba Primary Kindergarten students in Labasa.
Mr Chandra said children must be provided facilities to excel in their education and proper sanitation allowed children to study in a conducive environment. “Children are our future and to help them is a stepping stone to that vision,” he said.
The club also sponsored the new school signboard worth $200. Mr Chandra said through sports, they were able to manage their finances and ensured the best usage of the funds for community development.
As a Police Officer, he continues to promote community policing and ensure youths are discouraged from illicit drugs and criminal activities.
A fortnight ago, the club donated $500 to a family whose home was destroyed in a fire at Coqelau, Labasa, last year.Mr Chandra said peace building among people from different races was promoted during their fundraising events.
“Unity among people is key to stopping violence and instead that time and effort can be utilised for community prosperity,” he said.
The club has 18 members and their next assistance scheme is planned to help to put up information signage. Six religious spaces have been targeted for assistance including Muslim, Hindu and Christian religious bodies.
“As senior youths, we must ensure that our juniors are on the right path of education and to promote,” Mr Chandra said.
