Fiji Airways’ Bula Bar
It was an ‘Ultimate Drua Experience’ with a difference. The Fijian Drua fans that were part of the chartered Fiji Airways flight to Canberra, Australia, last Friday, were in for a treat.
Not only the special airfares but what topped up was the celebrating the official launch of Fiji Airways direct flight to Canberra, which officially starts in July.
The Canberrans joined the Drua fans on the footpath at front of the Bula Bar as they danced to the live music of renowned musician Apakuki Nalawa of the Resonance Entertainment.
The Bula Bar featured the Fiji Gold Beer, a special ‘Bula Canberra’ cocktail with a Fijian Dark Rum base, and over 300 Fijian dessert boxes gifted to patrons who came along to watch the game in the popup bar.
“As sponsors of the Drua, we wanted to bring the Fijian spirit to Canberra, so our pop-up Bula Bar was born,” said Fiji Airways managing director/chief executive officer André Viljoen.
“We are thrilled to bring a little piece of paradise to the wonderful people of Canberra.”
In addition, was the special musical performance from Resonance Entertainment and a photo booth. Fijian Drua head of commercial and marketing Shane Hussein said the event put on by Fiji Airways was to celebrate their launch of direct Canberra flights.
“It was outstanding,” Hussein said.
“Combining this with the Ultimate Canberra Drua Experience, utilising the match that evening between us and the ACT Brumbies was a masterstroke.
“There were numerous activities on the day, starting right from Nadi Airport in the morning, through to great fanfare on the flight over, the
takeover of a bar in Canberra city, and finally, multiple activations around the match at the stadium.”
Hussein said all of these contributed greatly towards increased awareness of Fiji Airways’ direct Canberra services.
“It’s fantastic for our country, and the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is only too happy to support our major partner in these efforts,” he said. The new Fiji Airways route will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays from July 21 to the end of September, and three times a week from October onwards.
