Tuvici plans market day, entertainment to excite hometown

Jackson Tuvici is ready to excite the people of Labasa, with unique events along with entertainment gigs this year.
The energetic social worker believes Labasa has been long deprived regularly of fun-filled social events.
“Apart from the Duavata Carnival and Friendly North Festival, we do not have much entertainment,” said Tuvuci who dubbed himself home boy.
This encouraged him to use his business (Black Pebbles Visuals and Events) as a medium to start with the hosting of the Vualiku Variety Market and the inaugural Art and Fashion Show.
The market is scheduled for April 29 at Subrail Park with the Art show to be held at the Labasa Civic Centre complex on the same day. The Fashion Show is confirmed for May 1 at the civic centre building as well.
“It’s my own initiative and passion to have something lively happening on weekends for people in Labasa,” he said.
The Vualiku Variety Market day will be organised once a month this year.
After approaching some business houses for possible assistance to this initiative, Parmod Enterprises Pte Limited and Merchant Finance Limited, stepped up as major sponsors.
The market day is set to attract vendors who share the desire to display their wares and catering services.
“The market culture also acts as a learning curve to other interested vendors who may not book their stalls this time to learn and use some ideas for future events,” he said.
Ten food stalls were allocated for the market day and so far six stalls have already been booked.
Tuvici, 30, said if interests grew he could arrange and accommodate more vendors.
Partnership for impact
The Labasa Town Council (LTC) and the Labasa Multicultural Centre have been agreed on partnership to host this event.
“Thhe LTC were supportive wards it”.
“The multicultural centre team would provide performers in the art and fashion events and also showcase their unique cultural talents.
