Government officials to benefit from solar plant project in Taveuni
Around 3000 Government officials would benefit from the 1.5 megawatts solar plant project in Mua, Taveuni. This was announced by Ro Filipe Tuisawau during the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Public Works, and Meteorological Service said the utilisation of clean and sustainable energy would brighten the economic prospects of the region.
The beneficiaries of this project include family members of government staff of respective ministries, local technicians, and communities.
Ro Filipe said the modern technologies, equipment, and tools powered by the solar plant would make the island more productive for household and economic activities. The power capacity would also enhance more development projects.
He further highlighted that the readily available power source would provide an opportunity for economic activities and improve children’s education.
“The Coalition Government is committed to providing life-changing benefits of electricity, and in partnership with its bilateral partners, it will continue to provide essential infrastructure and development,” he said.
“Prosperity and development for municipal councils remain a vital part of ensuring that lives are improved for the betterment of societal growth.”
The project started on-site in November last year and is expected to be completed by October this year.
Ro Filipe met with government officials on the first day of the Taveuni tour on Monday, where he also visited other infrastructure developments on the island.
