FASA Sends Final Agreement Draft to Air Terminal Services
The Federated Airlines Services Association has drafted its final Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on and forwarded to Air Terminal Services (Fiji) Limited.
FASA president Semisi Turagabaleti revealed this during the staff talanoa session at Nadi Civic Centre on Thursday night.
“So as for the MOA we had been sending our drafts to the company. The company’s also sent us its proposals,” he said.
“Today we’ve drafted the last one which I believe the company will take up. It covers what our position is and what our proposals are.” Mr Turagabeleti added the talanoa session was organised to enlighten its members on their process to return to work.
“We gave members a brief on that, just reassuring them that one mandate that we were given by the workers is to retain the collective agreement. Return to ATS; be reinstated under the conditions of collective agreement so we don’t lose out on our benefits,” he said.
“There have been a lot of media forums that they have been asking questions on. So tonight was a good platform for us to just clear the air.”
Lift the image of ATS
Mr Turagabeleti stressed to workers what they have encouraged when understanding the fact that there are two contracts that will be in existence.
The workforce is on the three-year contract that the company had introduced while the returning workforce is under collective agreement. “We actually encourage the workers to go in and lift the image of ATS, don’t get involved in petty issues, or have discrimination between the ones under the threeyear
contract and those under the collective agreement,” he said. “Just focus on the job. Be humble about knowing you know being reinstated back into the workforce. Look after your families, Most of these workers they’re returning as beneficiaries.”
Mr Turagabaleti said more than 170 staff have been contacted for their medical and police clearance. A total of 333 staff were terminated by the then board three years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic.
