Natasha Reddy runs her boutique, Blessed Second Hand Clothing, at the Suva Flea Market for the past three year now. Her journey as a woman in business began after she left her job as a sales rep and focused on developing a business where she can be independent.

A mother of two sells variety of ladies and men’s wear.

She said her business this year was not as good as previous years, but she had come up with ways to boost her business.

Mrs Reddy said she had better ideas to make more money and she thanked the Women in Business president, Nur Bano Ali, for motivating women to think bigger.

“In order to boost my business and make more money, I recently started with a creative nail in my stall,” she said.

“Seeing that there are lots of women who love to get their nails done, I said why not keep ladies happy by doing their nails beautifully. “I already had some fair knowledge about doing nails and I even learnt more about doing nails on YouTube. I am getting plenty of customers for this and it has kept me going.”

She said another she kept her business moving ahead financially was through record keeping.

“I have always been doing it in the book manually, but there’s some new stuff that I’ve learned today, like the figures like expenses,” Mrs

Reddy said.

“Keeping records will help me know how much I have spent and how much I have earned.”

She said she was planning to record everything in computer as it would help her in applying for a bank loan.

“Banks have requirements and I know that proper financing of my business can help me get a loan.

“If we do not set a record, we would not be able to get a loan because nowadays we survive with what we do.”

She said another way in which she manages her finances was by paying the stalls rent weekly.

“I pay $455 per month. What is good for me is that I pay $105 weekly.”
