Failed politicians Meli Matanatoto, Nadi

-

There were references to supposedly failed politicians giving their opinions on how the Government should conduct its business.

Those two supposedly failed politicians have done more to this country and its people in the past.

Take for example under the short prime ministership of Mahendra Chaundry and then Minister of Transport Adi Koila Mara Nailatikau legitimses the operation of Mini Buses.

The actions taken by Chaudhry and Adi Koila showcased HUGE Political Will despite BIG opposition from the Bus and Taxi Operators. This was done in collaboration with the then members of the Viti Minibus Association.

As most of the then minibus drivers were iTaukei, the action by Adi Koila with the support of Chaudhry did more for the indigenous empowerment than the so called iTaukei nationalists that were in power before and after his administration. Chaudhry in his one year of Prime Ministership was hugely effective in tax collection compared to other administrations. What an irony of history that people tend to conveniently forget the successes of such immense political undertakings.

Savenca Narube has past professional achievements in being at the forefront of managing and guiding Fiji’s economy. He has that knowledge and experience to voice opinions on economic matters.

Also the party he led in the recent general elections just fell short in gaining a seat. A sizable number of SODELPA voters will be projected to jump ship and vote for his party in the next general election.

The number of voters who voted for his party was a big improvement from what was achieved in the 2014 and 2018 editions of the general elections.

They keep growing in strength and that is not an indication of failure.
