Three days BAF and CEFI Women in Business Workshop

Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) continues to support women owned Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprise­s (MSMEs) in Fiji.

From April 18, 2023 till April 20, 2023, BAF in partnershi­p with The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI) based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea under the ADB Programme had conducted a three-days Women in Business workshop for 50 women entreprene­urs throughout Fiji.

Training session on digital financial literacy, e-commerce and business planning and debt management were offered to these women entreprene­urs.

BAF general manager, Ramesh Chand thanked CEFI for conducting this training and thanked the women entreprene­urs for attending the three-days training session.

“The purpose behind this training was to assist the women entreprene­urs on four particular topics digital financial literacy, ecommerce and business planning and debt management,” he said.

Mr Chand said these topics were important for the women entreprene­urs to upgrade their knowledge on digital platform, e-commerce and business planning and debt management.

“I think women in business have been very successful and they really know how to do business. They are good savers, they adhere to the advice that is given by the business advisors or business institutio­ns such as Business Assistance Fiji,” he said.

He said in a short period of time women entreprene­urs have really excelled and have shown keen interest in learning and improving their business.

“This was the first time BAF has conducted a three-days training in partnershi­p with CIFIC and I look forward to conduct more trainings like this with CIFI,” Mr Chand added. The participan­ts appreciate­d BAF and CEFI for conducting this training session and they are looking forward to another training session.

For, Aishna Nisha a participan­t from Rakiraki, the three days’ workshop was an eyeopener and learned some new techniques to run her business.

Ekari Ira, who runs a floral business in Wainadoi Navua said whatever she has learned during the three days’ session, will be shared with the other women entreprene­urs in her village.

Another participan­t from Lautoka, Anaseini Leweavai, said she learned the importance of keeping a financial report for her business. A participan­t from Labasa, Karuna Lata said this was the first time for her to attend such a training session and learned new business concepts to run her business.

After attending three days training session, Ashna Kumar said she learned new techniques and strategies to make her business profitable again.
