The Ba Provincial Freebird Institute Dragons Under-15 side understand that it will be a mammoth task to beat the Ratu Kadavulevu Eels in today’s final.

The two sides will play in the opener of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League finals at 9am.

Ba Pro captain Isoa Taqiri said they will always respect the Lodoni boys.

The Year 10 student who hails from Nukutubu, Rewa shares maternal links to Nacula, Yasawa and was born and bred in Lautoka.

“We know RKS is a good team but we have also trained well for this final,” he said.

“They will not be an easy side to beat. Despite being third from their zone we will not take them lightly. They are still number one to us,” Taqiri added.

The five-eighth player who only learnt how to play rugby league last year hopes to continue playing and secure an overseas contract in future.

“I only started playing last year and could not believe will be playing in the final this year,” he said.

“I admire the way Panther’s Nathan Cleary play; I would want to play at the NRL one day.”

Bowing out in last year’s Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League quarter finals motivated the Namosi Secondary School women to play better this year.

Captain Mereani Kuru said they have done the hard yards and were ready to take on Lomaivuna Secondary School today at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

“We only have one goal and that is to win,” Kuru said. “We look forward to play against Lomaivuna; they are a strong side but we have also trained hard.

“We will showcase our talent and give them a good game.”

Namosi and Lomaivuna play at 10:15am.

In other grades Ba Provincial Dragons will take on RKS and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) School in the U-15 and U-17 grade respectively while Naitasiri Warriors will face RKS Eels in the U19 final.
