Village Boy Graduates, Wants to Set Example
For Josefa Bota, graduating with an accredited certificate brings comfort and a sense of certainty for his future endeavours. The 21-year-old of Nakawakawa, Wainunu, Bua, achieved a significant milestone yesterday as he graduated from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).
The ceremony took place at the Fiji National University in Nasinu, where Mr Bota received a certificate II in agriculture.
Being the first person in his family to obtain an accredited certificate and an ambitious individual, he prioritizes inspiring his cousins and the youth in his community.
“I have made my family and community proud, and I consider this achievement a turning point in my life,” Mr Bota said.
“In my village, farming is our primary source of income, sustaining us on a daily basis. With this certificate, I hope to encourage my peers back home that education is the key to success.”
Mr Bota’s journey towards obtaining the certificate required immense patience and perseverance. He first learned about APTC when representatives visited his school, Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute.
Despite facing financial challenges and other obstacles along the way, he remained determined and resilient.
“While pursuing my studies, I encountered numerous challenges like any other villager.
“However, I learned to embrace patience and continue persevering, (sa ka ga ni vosota) “he said.
With his newly acquired skills and knowledge, Mr Bota aims to become an exemplary figure for the youth in his village, motivating them to pursue education and strive for a better future.
