VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR FIJIANS TRAVELLING TO PAPUA NEW GUINEA

FIJI OFFERED 99-YEAR LAND LEASE IN PORT MORESBY FOR CHANCERY CONSTRUCTI­ON Prime Minister Marape welcomed Prime Minister Rabuka’s first official visit to PNG, highlighti­ng its significan­ce in strengthen­ing diplomatic relations.

Fiji has been offered a 99-year land lease in Port Moresby’s Central Business District for the constructi­on of its chancery in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Also, Fiji citizens will now be able to obtain visas upon arrival when traveling to PNG.

In reciprocit­y, the Fiji Government will provide land in Suva for the constructi­on of the PNG chancery.

These were announced during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister James Marape PNG and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

The establishm­ent of the Fiji-PNG Missions will strengthen the traditiona­l ties, people-to-people links, and socio-economic developmen­t between the two countries.

Mr Rabuka reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to working together with PNG to enhance and strengthen bilateral relations.

He said both the countries ‘are united

in our resolve to build a more prosperous and resilient Pacific region.’

The leaders discussed potential collaborat­ions in higher education, security cooperatio­n, agricultur­e, climate change, trade and investment, and the promotion of regional solidarity.

Mr Rabuka commended India and PNG for their collaborat­ion in organizing

the upcoming 3rd Forum for IndiaPacif­ic Islands Cooperatio­n (FIPIC), which would facilitate discussion­s on matters impacting the region as a whole.

Mr Marape welcomed Mr Rabuka’s first official visit to PNG, highlighti­ng its significan­ce in strengthen­ing diplomatic relations.

He expressed heartfelt appreciati­on for Mr Rabuka’s commitment to regional solidarity and emphasized that the discussion­s held during the meeting would foster stronger cooperatio­n between the two nations amid the current geopolitic­al environmen­t.
