VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR FIJIANS TRAVELLING TO PAPUA NEW GUINEA
FIJI OFFERED 99-YEAR LAND LEASE IN PORT MORESBY FOR CHANCERY CONSTRUCTION Prime Minister Marape welcomed Prime Minister Rabuka’s first official visit to PNG, highlighting its significance in strengthening diplomatic relations.
Fiji has been offered a 99-year land lease in Port Moresby’s Central Business District for the construction of its chancery in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Also, Fiji citizens will now be able to obtain visas upon arrival when traveling to PNG.
In reciprocity, the Fiji Government will provide land in Suva for the construction of the PNG chancery.
These were announced during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister James Marape PNG and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
The establishment of the Fiji-PNG Missions will strengthen the traditional ties, people-to-people links, and socio-economic development between the two countries.
Mr Rabuka reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to working together with PNG to enhance and strengthen bilateral relations.
He said both the countries ‘are united
in our resolve to build a more prosperous and resilient Pacific region.’
The leaders discussed potential collaborations in higher education, security cooperation, agriculture, climate change, trade and investment, and the promotion of regional solidarity.
Mr Rabuka commended India and PNG for their collaboration in organizing
the upcoming 3rd Forum for IndiaPacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), which would facilitate discussions on matters impacting the region as a whole.
Mr Marape welcomed Mr Rabuka’s first official visit to PNG, highlighting its significance in strengthening diplomatic relations.
He expressed heartfelt appreciation for Mr Rabuka’s commitment to regional solidarity and emphasized that the discussions held during the meeting would foster stronger cooperation between the two nations amid the current geopolitical environment.
