Nadi wins IDC, now eyes ICC title

The Rizwan Valentine Alicaptain­ed Nadi side after winning the Fiji Muslim Sports Associatio­n Digicel/ Tebara Halal Meats Inter District Championsh­ip at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Sunday has set its sight on the FANCA’s Internatio­nal Club Championsh­ip 2023 in October.

Tournament top goal scorer Mohammed Shafeem scored a hattrick

in their 3-1 victory over Ba in a wet and slippery final, witnessed by over 2000 fans.

“After this win, we will not rest on our laurels; We’re now focussed to clinch the ICC in October as well. Preparatio­n will continue with our camp,” Ali said.

In the semi-finals, Nadi had hammered Varavu, while Ba defeated Drasa.

FMSA president Javed Ahmed confirmed that they will assist in the preparatio­n of all eight teams in their bid to keep the ICC title in Fiji.

Ahmed also confirmed that the eight quarter-finalists have qualified for the ICC, this included Drasa, Lautoka, Ba, Cuvu, Nadi, Suva, Varavu and 2022 winner Maigania.

Awards: Golden Ball Rizwan W Valentine Ali, golden boot (5 goals each) Mohammed Shafeem (Nadi) and Usman Ali (Lautoka), golden glove Alam (Suva), Best Manager – Shameer (Rewa)/ Zahid Ali (Cuvu), Fair play team – Nasinu, Rookie – Abdul Sahil (Varavu). Other results: Kamil Muslim College defeated Nadi Muslim College in the School Cup.

Legends final: South defeated West 1 and Master final: West 1 defeated South 1.
