Taxi Proprietor­s to See Increase in Fares

The Fiji Taxi Associatio­n general secretary Ashwin Ashish Lal is looking forward to a positive consensus being reached after the National Budget consultati­ons this week.

“There will be a representa­tive for the associatio­n present during the consultati­ons so he will present our submission­s and then return with the feedback,” Mr Lal said. The consultati­ons will be held from Tuesday to Thursday.

“We will give our submission­s so that our voices can be heard in putting the National Budget together,” he said.

“Our submission­s will include the much-needed increase in taxi fare because it has been a long time since the fare has been increased.”

He said they would also raise concern on increase in food prices. “I hope with this new Government, we will work together and reach a positive result that will have long-term advantages, not just for the associatio­n, but the people of Fiji.”

The consultati­ons will begin on Tuesday at the Lomawai Temple in Sigatoka from 9am-11am, Nadi Civic Centre from 2.3pm-3.30pm, Bluelight

Hotel Nadi Backroad from 5pm-7 pm and the Tunalia Hindu Mahasabha Primary School from 8pm-9.30pm.

Lautoka consultati­ons will begin on Wednesday from 10am–11.45am at the Sugar Cane Growers Council hall, 2.45pm- 4pm at the Lautoka Market Vendors Accommodat­ion Centre on the first floor of the Sugar City Mall car park, 5pm- 7pm at the Lautoka City Council chambers. The Ba and Tavua consultati­ons will be on Thursday from 9am-10am at the Veisaru Sanatan Dharam Schol in Ba, 1pm –2pm at the Toko Sanatan Primary School in Tavua, 2.30pm- 3.30pm at the Mataniwai Temple in Tavua and 5pm – 7pm at the Ba Town Council chambers.
