Ra Roosters confident to compete against top teams
I encouraged the girls to believe in themselves and give their best, executing our game plan: Head coach
The Ra Roosters have made an impressive start to their Finace Hub Super League campaign by causing an upset in their opening round against the Nadroga Stallions at the FMF Gymnasium last Saturday. The Roosters, who were invited as the minor champions from the 2022 National Championship after Tailevu requested more preparation time, demonstrated exceptional athleticism with a team predominantly comprised of young talents. Head coach Jimaima expressed great confidence in the team’s participation at this level of competition, emphasising their intention to capitalise on the opportunity and provide strong competition for their opponents.
”As last year’s winners in the minor division of the National Championship, we are proud to play against the major division teams,”
Jimaima stated.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to Netball Fiji for granting us the chance to compete at this higher level. Representing Ra, a lower division, in this tournament has given us immense confidence. I encouraged the girls to believe in themselves and give their best, executing our game plan.”
Jimaima highlighted that the primary focus for the Ra Netball Association is to continue nurturing their club games and revive the Western rally. The association aims to identify and develop young talents through their club meetings and selection processes.
“Our Ra Netball Association has already initiated club games at Ra High School, and we have commenced the selection process to identify and engage more young talents. Our current objective is to revitalise the Western rally.” Overall, the Ra Roosters have set a strong foundation for their Finace Hub Super League campaign, displaying determination and confidence as they strive to make their mark in the competition.
