Nadroga FA boss looks for ‘right mix’

The inclusion of lanky striker Rusiate Matararega should boost the Nadroga football side’s 2024 campaign.

The Bavu, Nadroga, native has received his release from Suva Football Associatio­n.

Matererega who has played for Nadi, Lautoka, and Rewa has returned to his province hoping to assist them find their winning form.

Nadroga Football Associatio­n president Max Chetty said they are confirming two more talented individual­s to join them soon.

“We are excited to announce that for the 2024 season, we will be fielding a mixture of young and experience­d players who are ready to make Nadroga proud,” Chetty

said.

To strengthen the team, two talented Solomon Islanders, Barnie Williams and William Komasi will undoubtedl­y add valuable experience to the side.

“We want to assure our fans that while we are bringing in experience­d players, we are also committed to developing and nurturing our young talents since they have shown great promise.

“This is demonstrat­ed by their impressive performanc­e in the IDC (Inter-District Championsh­ip) in Suva last year,” he said.

“We believe that by combining the energy and potential of our young players with the experience of our new additions, we can build a team capable of achieving great success in the new season.”

Chetty said the unwavering support from stakeholde­rs has made them work hard to mould Nadroga into a champion side.

“With your backing, we are confident that we can achieve great things and make everyone proud.

“Let’s all unite behind Team Nadroga and look forward to an exciting and successful season ahead.

“My hearty thanks go to my executives and the team management.”

Over the years, the Nadroga football team has produced top footballer­s like Abraham Watkins, John Rounds, Luke Waqa, Archie Watikins, Radike Nawalu, Ramendra Dutt, Ilikimi Tulalevu, Masi Natisiwai, Sevuloni Tasere and the list goes on.

Meanwhile, the Nadroga FA Local League knockout competitio­n 2024 will kick-off on February 3-4 at the Tuva Primary School grounds.

The winner gets $400 and runner-up $200.
