Students speak on journey as recycling advocates
The Recycling on the Go (ROG) Ambassadors Leadership Forum in Nadi, today will go up another level with Tanoa Hotel Group joining as a pivotal partner.
The event will bring about 30 students, known as ROG Ambassadors, from Jai Narayan College, Jasper Williams High School, and Nadi Sangam Primary School to speak about their experiences, challenges and journey as recycling advocates.
During the formal signing of the partnership agreement Tanoa Hotel Group, area general manager Narend Kumar said this showed their commitment to the recycling movement and as invaluable allies in charting the course for the programme’s future.
Mr Kumar said, “we are thrilled to join hands with the PRF and Swire Shipping for this pivotal step towards crafting a blueprint for recycling awareness through the ROG programme.”
“Together, we aspire to create a sustainable legacy for future generations. Our commitment extends beyond hospitality to advocating responsible practices.” Pacific Recycling Foundation rep Amitesh Deo said the forum also provided a platform for students from the schools to share their unique experiences, journeys, and challenges encountered during their advocacy endeavours, fostering peer-to-peer learning and collaboration.
“Their presence underscores the diverse avenues through which recycling awareness can be elevated, transcending traditional boundaries,” Mr Deo said.
He also extended appreciation to Swire Shipping for its unwavering support.
Permanent Secretary for Education Selina Kuruleca will officiate at the forum.
The Recycling on The Go (ROG) ambassadors program - Leadership Forum is from 9am - 2pm. Meanwhile, three renowned Drua players have undergone comprehensive training on the best practices of recycling making it a first of its kind at the same venue.
