Fiji Outrigger teams are gearing up for the regional and international events lined-up for this year as well 2025.

While Fiji will not host any regional meet, they will have athletes from their respective clubs for various championships.

This was confirmed by Fiji Outrigger president Biu Kacimaiwai.

“There are a few competitions in sight for international representation and this will feature Fiji athletes that are representing their clubs,” Kacimaiwai said.

“It includes: Te Aito Race in Tahiti in June, World Sprints in Hilo, Hawaii in August, Vaka Eiva in Cook Islands in November and Waka Ama in January next year.

“The next national representative outing will be for the World Distance in 2025 (Brazil) and the Pacific Mini Games in Guam,” Kacimaiwai added.

He indicated that local competitions are also in line and dates will be released soon.

“We are looking forward to this year’s races and working together with all our paddlers, clubs and major stakeholders.

“The successes of our events wouldn’t have been made possible if not for the backing of our partners, the Fiji National Sports Commission through the Fiji Association of Sport and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC).

“The development of the sport has been enabled through the grants which have been awarded to our athletes that have gone on to represent Fiji and win medals at the international meets.

“We are also thankful to Total Energies, the University of the Pacific, PFD, The Dive Centre, ME Productions and all our sponsors that have helped us greatly in hosting our regattas every year.”
