Cruise to Lau on Ana’s Bucket List
Island Breeze, a private waterfront home with an infinity pool overlooking the Koro sea, is the top pick for leadership consultant Ana Laqeretabua.
She discovered the spot two years ago and recommends it as the ideal getaway in Savusavu for her and her friends.
“I love the whole vibe, so relaxed, laid back and chill, and the accommodation is perfect for a group of friends to hang out, cook if you want to, swim, watch the sunrise and to use as a base to go out and discover some of what Savusavu has to offer,” she said.
What is your favourite spot for coffee or pie?
Moments Café across the road from Village 6, in Suva, serve a great kumquat pie and good coffee.
When I’m on the go and need a shot of caffeine, one of my best places to go is McDonald’s drive-through for a flat white and a walnut bran muffin.
They also do really nice chocolate brownies.

What is your favourite backyard spot?
The running water stream over rocks at Naiutuutu, Namena, Tailevu, my koro ni vasu.
It’s an amazing fountain of fresh water running through mataqali land, just on the outskirts of Namena Village.
Soaking in the cold clear water when it’s a hot day is just perfect.
The bonus is that it’s not too far out of Suva, so I can be there in an hour, see family, and have a dip in clear cold water at the same time.
Doesn’t get much better than that.
What are some places in Fiji on your bucket list?
I’ve been wanting to take the Captain Cook
Cruise to Lau for a while because that part of Fiji just looks so amazing.
I’m also interested in the one to the North, Kioa, Rabi etc.
I’d love to visit Cikobia in Vanua Levu, which is where my sister-in-law comes from.
