I firmly believe in encouraging women to pursue their dreams with ambition because we are fearlessly and wonderfully made in the image of God.

Sabrina KhanSharma is among the phenomenal women well known in Fiji.

She was recognised in the United Kingdom and Australia for her community engagement efforts, human rights advocacy, and compassion towards helping others. Some of her achievements include receiving a Medal of Honour and the UK’s Lead5050 Award for Champion of Change. Ms Khan-Sharma is teh daughter of prominent Lautokabased Fijian Counsel, Iqbal Khan. Ms Khan-Sharma is a Christian human rights barrister married to Dr Reverend Jonathan Sharma. Recently Ms KhanSharma was at The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Festival which was also attended by hollywood stars Simon Baker, CateBlanchett, Rebel Wilson, and more.

For this special International Women’s Day, we feature Ms Khan-Sharma and her insipiration for women empowerment.

Below is a poem wriiten by Mrs Khan-Sharma about women empowerment:

life, we are woven joys and sorrows, I feel as my own,

In this shared existence, we are not alone.

As you find freedom, my spirit takes flight,

Your liberation brings me pure delight.

In the fabric of reality, we stand side by side,

Connected by a thread that cannot be denied.

Though our paths may diverge in this earthly plane,

In truth, our souls are intertwined, never to wane.

To truly understand our place in this grand design,

We must embrace both unity and individuality in mind.

Each of us is a unique vessel of light, Yet together, we shine ever so bright. So when you gaze into my eyes for what’s true?

See not just me, but God who lives in you.

Apart from a rather public profile, not much else is known about Ms KhanSharma.

In our endeavours to offer readers an insight into an incredible woman, this International Women’s Day we had an up-close interview with her.

Do your thoughts on life influence your activities and interactions with others?

My thoughts on life revolve around gratitude, kindness, and empathy. I believe in cherishing every moment, being grateful for what I have, and spreading positivity wherever I go. These beliefs reflect in my activities as they inspire me to create art that evokes emotions, choose books that broaden my horizons, and write letters that foster meaningful connections.

How do you motivate women around you to pursue their passions and dreams?

I firmly believe in encouraging women to pursue their dreams with ambition because we are fearlessly and wonderfully made in the image of God. I encourage them to embrace their uniqueness, believe in themselves, and never settle for anything less than they deserve. By sharing my journey of growth and discovery, I aim to inspire other women to break barriers, shatter stereotypes, and reach for the stars.

How does your faith play a role in your personal growth and daily life?

My faith is the cornerstone of my existence. It provides me with strength during challenging times, guides me towards making ethical decisions, and fills my heart with hope and love. Through prayer, reflection, and seeking wisdom from the scriptures, I continue to grow spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. In all aspects of my life, I give credit to God for His grace, which sustains me through every triumph and trial.

Aside from being a strong writer for films and books, you have been writing poetry since your teenage years. What inspired you to write poems?

I was privileged while growing up to hear ghazals and classic tunes. From the depths of Mehdi Hassan’s pieces to the sounds of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s creations, if I wasn’t listening to them at home, I was attending their concerts. Add to this, my grandfather’s books which included Shakespeare, Judaism, Christian Theology, and Islam, I was bound to head that way! I’m grateful to both of my parents for some wonderful years as such.
