Tabadamu Sevens Offers Last Chance

- LEONE CABENATABUA SUVA

Players who want to make the national rugby sevens team have this weekend to prove their worth to the national selectors.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Tabadamu sponsorship and marketing manager Rajesh Singh said the Fiji Bitter sponsored two-day tournament is all set to go at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori tomorrow.

Singh said although the Fiji Babaas won’t be playing but they understand that the national rugby sevens officials would be around during the tournament.

“The Tabadamu Rugby Club founder and former national rugby sevens captain Setefano Cakau is arriving tomorrow (today),” Singh said.

The club over the years has produced top players like Leo Naikasau, Jone Vota, Terio Tamani, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Iosefo Masi and the list goes on.

Police back

A boost to the tournament is the return of the Police team to the competition as they chase for the top spot in the Fiji Bitter Sevens series.

“Police is fielding one team,” Singh said.

He clarified that there is no spot available in the men’s, women’s and the Under-20 competitions.

Police has top players like Joseva Talacolo, Tamani, Suliano Volivoli, Filipe Sauturaga, Keponi Paul, Livai

Ikanikoda and so on who have also represented Fiji at the HSBC SVNS Series.

Singh said a Japanese development side would be the only overseas team in the competition.

What’s on today?

All coaches and managers must attend the briefing at the Ratu Cakobau Park (VIP) Lounge at 4pm. Managers must bring original registration forms. Under-21 managers must include their players ID cards along with their forms.
