More customers have opted to pay their movie tickets at Damodar Cinemas using the M-PAiSA platform rather than cash.

This shifting technological mindset of people in Labasa and Vanua Levu will ensure more time is saved instead of waiting in line for a ticket.

Damodar Group of Companies chief executive officer Div Damodar said from their payment records more customers paid through M-PAiSA.

When asked on the Fijian Drua live game advertising, Mr Damodar, said every week the number of customers increased across their centres.

Labasa is no stranger with interest emerging among customers and rugby fans. Mr Damodar said the movie landscape in Labasa continued to grow and they had to meet quality demand with shows to match their competitors, Life Cinema.

Various promotions, which are new to Labasa moviegoers, have led to more bookings. These promotions include free ticket on Mondays at the purchase of one ticket and the presentation of a Colgate packet for the second free ticket.

Another promotion is the usage of the MPAiSA platform for buying a ticket, which enables a free second ticket on every purchase. Mr Damodar said change was imperative and being on par with technological advancement was crucial for any business.

Despite the numerous M-PAiSA related scams and illegal money transactions, which led to some individuals appearing in court for such offences, customers still prefer the app.

A customer and regular movie goer, Ravikesh Singh, said M-PAiSA was a convenient app.

However, its service provider, Vodafone Fiji, must improve its security of the app to ensure illegal transactions are reduced.

On the entire island of Vanua Levu, Labasa is the only district to have two cinemas providing services, Life Cinema and Damodar Cinemas.
