Good Friday response

- Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, Tacirua

Good or Crucifixion Friday is best understood when we ponder on the million dollar question: Is there a creator or are we the result of evolution?

For creationists, the Bible becomes their text book because it begins with the declaration: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

It goes on to describe the creator speaking the world into existence, but took time to create Adam from the dust of the ground and breathing air into his nostrils and man became a living being.

Later, Eve was created from one of Adam’s ribs as he was feeling lonely seeing all the animals he had named having a partner.

The creator’s original plan was for mankind to multiply, fill the earth and be its steward for eternity.

But the fallen angel Lucifer used a serpent to tempt Eve and Eve tempted Adam to sin and disobey the creator’s command, not to eat of the fruit from the forbidden tree.

God has clearly revealed that they will die if they disobeyed or sinned.

As a consequence, mankind was cast out of the Garden of Eden and away from the Tree of Life.

When Jesus the Messiah or Christ came to John the Baptist over 2000 years ago, John, filled by the Spirit of God, stopped his preaching and pointed to the crowd to see Jesus exclaiming: Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

The creator had a plan of salvation before the creation of our world and God the Son was willing to be our redeeming sacrifice should mankind choose to sin. (John 3:16). As Christ hung on the cross on that Good or Crucifixion Friday, a sinless being dying for sinful humanity, all heaven just watched in silent amazement at the cost paid for our salvation!

The creator dying to redeem the created! I love the song: When He was on the cross, I was on His mind.

It is my prayer that we will all respond positively and enjoy a new walk in life with our loving resurrected Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
