Husband in Custody for Allegedly Murdering Wife
Afour-year-old child was found asleep during the alleged murder that happened at Waimanu Apartments, on the corner of Waimanu Road and Robertson Rd, in Suva yesterday morning.
This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro. A 25-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband. Ms Naisoro said officers from the Totogo Police Station were at the scene after a report was received after 5am.
“Officers were deployed and found the 25-year-old woman lying motionless with visible injuries,” Ms Naisoro said.
“The suspect, who is the victim’s husband, was arrested and is in custody. Investigations continue.” It is understood that the couple checked into one of the apartments with the child on Wednesday.
The child is with a relative now. Minister condems incident Meanwhile, Minister for Women and Children Lynda Tabuya, while condemning the incident, has called for public support in combating the abuse and violence against women.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a young woman in Suva today (yesterday), allegedly a victim of domestic violence. I reiterate our stance - gender-based violence, including domestic violence, is a human rights violation and a criminal offense under Fijian law. It is absolutely unacceptable,” she said.
