Police mum on probe status
THE Fiji Police Force remains mum on the status of investigations on the alleged assault by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on suspended Opposition MP Pio Tikoduadua outside Parliament on August 9.
Yesterday, police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro reiterated what she has repeatedly told this newspaper — that they would stick to an earlier statement made by Commissioner of Police Brigadier
General Sitiveni Qiliho.
On September 9, Brig-Gen Qiliho said in an interview they would update the complainant about the progress of his police complaint.
“Go ask him (Mr Tikoduadua), you go and ask him, we will update Mr Tikoduadua, we don’t update the news,” he said.
“We update the complainant, not the newspaper.
“So you go and ask him, if he wants to talk to you about it then that is up to him.”
Speaking from Auckland, New Zealand, Mr Tikoduadua said he was not aware of an update from police because he was not in the country.
