Boost for schools
STUDENTS in rural Macuata have not let the lack of internet connectivity affect the opportunity for them to undertake basic computer lessons.
In a huge boost to their e-learning endeavours, the ANZ Bank, while opening its new office in Labasa Town recently, gave computers to six rural schools.
ANZ Fiji country head Saud Minam said they were committed to upgrading student resources through various assistance programs.
He said the computers given to rural students would go a long way towards assisting them keep up with those in other parts of the country. Mr Minam said among the institutions that received computers were two very remote schools — Duavata Primary School, located in the Udu Point area and Cadranasiga District School in Seaqaqa.
Cadranasiga school head Kelepi Colata said despite the internet connectivity issue, they considered the computers a blessing.
Duavata Primary School manager Josaia Rokobukatavo said the computers would help broaden the students’ knowledge on various issues.
