U23 soccer
THE Fiji U23 side lost to their New Zealand counterparts. This side failed to emulate the achievements of the previous squad which participated in Rio after New Zealand were found guilty of breaching player eligibility rules. The protest was lodged by another Pacific Island nation.
The loss means that once again the incentive from Fiji Football Association (FFA) will not materialise. Nothing unusual.
I gather fans are up in arms over the disappointment. But this disappointment will not last long.
In a few days, attention will be diverted towards the bonanza IDC soccer tournament where a “high standard” of soccer will be on display.
This is the predictable merry-go-round of soccer in Fiji.
