Chand swings to victory in Pacific Habour

DENARAU resident profession­al Amitesh Chandra claimed the 18 holes Pro-Am tournament at the Pearl Golf and Country Club Course in Pacific Harbour.

Amitesh carded two over par 74 in wet conditions.

Waisake Wavti was second with three over par 75 while Bay Lawyer finished third with a score of five over par 77.

The tournament was sponsored by the Fiji Profession­al Golf Associatio­n, Pearl Golf and Country Club and Five Squares with a total prize purse of $3000 at stake.

Meanwhile Ba lawyer Vikrant Chandra will lead the Fiji PGA until the beginning of 2021.

Vikrant was elected unopposed as the president at the recent annual general meeting.

Natadola Bay Golf Club’s David Roche is the vice president. Amitesh takes up the secretaria­l role while Lautoka school teacher Roneel Prakash is the treasurer.

Ricky McCulloch, Zoheer Ahmad and Emani Ratumaiyal­e are the committee members.

Amitesh said for the first time in the associatio­n’s history an audited financial report was presented.

“The financial report was passed and our next agm will be held in February 2021,” he said.

“The next event on the calendar is the Rum Co. of Fiji sponsored Pro-Am from November 1-2 at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club Course.

“It will be followed by two big tournament­s in December which will be the Ba Open and the President’s Cup.

“There will be $10,000 up for grabs in both tournament­s.”
