Have a positive attitude

- By LOSALAINI VUKI

“WORDS are powerful — if you speak positive words, you will live a positive life but negative words are unhealthy for your mind, body and soul."

These were the words of Rosi Batimala, 51, who adds the secret to a glowing skin isn't just about the foods you consume but also your relationship with God.

"It all goes together — your speech, character and behaviour helps you live longer," she said.

"Everything will fall into place, even when it comes to shopping and eventually you will know what to do."

Our shopper of the week prefers to shop at any MaxVal-u Supermart on a monthly basis.

WITH a shopping budget of $100, Rosi Batimala says MaxVal-u Supermart has always been her place for shopping.

“One of the advantages of having spacious aisles is that it gives you the freedom of selection,” said Ms Batimala.

“It also makes shopping very easy and quick. MaxVal-u Supermart’s displays of products are neat which makes it easy and enjoyable as well. Most items are affordable and the staff are always helpful.”

Ms Batimala said eating canned foods may result in unhealthy eating risks and adds shoppers should try and opt for healthier options.

“One must never be too quick to pick anything on the shelf,” she said.

“Be wise when it comes to shopping and make a shopping list.

“If you know what you want to buy and stick to the budget, you’ll be amazed at how much you would save.

“The other thing shoppers should take heed of is to be aware of the chemicals in fruits and vegetables.

“Some produce may have been sprayed with pesticides which is harmful for the body.”

With origins to the village of Volivoli, Nadroga, Ms Batimala is a vocalist with the jazz band — Grace band.

She sings once a week (Mondays only) at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.

She has also been doing some counselling work since 2000.

“I work only once a week so I’m not only dependent on the money I earn but also on what I like to call faith currency.

“The rest of the days I pray for people who like to be prayed over.

“I get prayer requests from people of all walks of life and I try to reach out and win souls for the kingdom of God.”

Ms Batimala shops monthly because it gives her enough time to budget for her family — her 16-year-old son and two brothers.

Her favourite food is boiled fish and cassava or dalo with lemon and chilies to taste.
