HIGH Court in Suva judge Justice Daniel Goundar sentenced a man to six years imprisonment for robbing two taxidrivers on separate occasions in February this year.

Inosi Natai Kotoisuva pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated robbery.

Justice Goundar said in both cases, the accused and others got into the victims’ taxis on the pretext of hiring them.

He said the victims were taken to secluded locations and robbed using physical violence.

In the first case, the 53-year-old victim sustained three knife wounds and the offenders stole $210 cash and a mobile phone.

For the second case, the offenders jabbed the 37-year-old victim from behind before pulling him out of the vehicle and stealing his mobile phone and $150.

Justice Goundar said there was a degree of planning involved in the commission of the offences and taxidrivers were targeted on both occasions.

Kotoisuva will be eligible for parole after serving three years.
