I COMMEND Nadroga Rugby Union for setting a new benchmark.

After the success of the Hakwa Foundation, Nadroga has formed an old players’ association. Former players who donned the white jumper formed the Nadroga Rugby Former Players Association – Waqe Osi.

Thanks to The Fiji Times, I have been able to get an insight into the affairs of Nadroga Rugby Union.

It touched my heart to read that the former players had visited Peniasi Damu who was an asset for Nadroga during his playing days. Nadroga faces Suva, which is laced with national stars, on July 25 at Lawaqa Park.

Suva has a formidable and dynamic team on paper but the Stallions are traditional giants and they’ll have a game plan to counter the Blues brigade.

I’m sure Suva’s John Stewart will agree that Suva will go to Lawaqa Park as underdogs. To team Nadroga and Tiko Matawalu – I rise and salute you all for the wonderful team bonding! I agree with my brother from Mukta Ben Place Shalwyn that it’s high time that Tiko Matawalu is recognised for his efforts. Nadroga must be praised for unearthing so many raw talents some of whom have starred for Fiji.

To The Fiji Times – thank you so much for covering stories from Nadroga!

As an ardent Nadroga fan since the days of Esala Nauga, Solo Donu, Jonetani Waqa, Save and Eminoni Batimala, Ifereimi Tawake, Peniasi Damu, the late Isaia Rasila, Bill Gadolo, Fero Lasagavibau and Kele Leawere, I thank team Nadroga for leading the way! Hakwa Nadro hakwa!
