Hussein wins Lautoka golf
NATIONAL golf rep and Fiji’s top ranked amateur golfer, Abid Hussein took out the Islands Electric-sponsored 18 holes Pro-Am golf championship at the Lautoka Golf Club course last Saturday.
Hussein shot a convincing three-under par 66 for the overall title. Home-based Vikash Chand finished strongly to take out the overall nett title on 60.
It was a toe to toe battle for the Agrade title with former national football rep Dennis Singh pipping the ever consistent Ram Reddy on a countback with the duo netting 63.
Fiji Golf Club’s Nigel Goundan grabbed third spot on 65 also on a countback from Shiva Rajan.
Asish Kumar was declared to B- grade champion on 62, followed by Adeel Khan on 64 and Anil Prasad on 65.
Ananda Madhwan claimed the Cgrade title on 64 with Navi Vakaruru and Ansarul Khan on 65 and 68 respectively.
Sunny Kim of Denarau grossed 71 for the ladies title with Sunny Kim the best nett on 72. Raina Kumar was second on 73 and Merelita McCarmy 3rd on 74.
LGC president Chong Lee was grateful and thankful to all the 77 participants in the 18 holes stroke Pro-Am championship and the fantastic scores recorded in each of the categories.
