Olosara snooker optimistic of making the semi-finals
THE Olosara Club is adamant of reaching the semi-finals of the Phil’s Autoport sponsored North West Billiards and Snooker Association (NWBSA) 2020 League.
Olosara Club formed in 2018 replaced the defunct Sigatoka Club in the NWBSA league competition.
The side includes homegrown talents such as Salvin Shalendra, Ronald Singh, Sanjit Gosai, Navin
Datt, Ronald Singh and Manav Raj.
Olosara Club defeated South Seas Warriors 4-3 to move up to second position on the NWBSA 2020 League points table.
Olosara Club captain Anant Raj said they could have wrapped up the fixture early but a few errors cost them one snooker singles fixture and a billiards match.
He said on both occasions Chung Lee of the Warriors came from behind to beat his players narrowly.
“Chung played well on his home turf,” Anant said.
“But nothing should be taken away from my boys. They did their part. We have our homegrown players in the team.
“They have done well so far in the competition and we are targeting a semi-final berth.”
In another tight affair, defending champion Simla Dragons defeated Lautoka Shooters 4-3.
Table leaders Nadi Sport Club continued its winning trend beating Nadi Club 5-2.
North West Billiards and Snooker Association executive member Reemal Narayan said the ninth round of the competition will be played this Saturday.
Round nine fixtures: Lautoka Club-Nadi Sports Club, Simla Dragons-Nadi Club, South Seas United-South Seas Warriors.
NWBSA 2020 league points: Nadi Sports Club 21, Olosara Club 15, Simla Dragons 15, Nadi Club 12, Lautoka Shooters 9, South Seas United 9, South Seas Warriors 0.
