Welcome 2021

-

FIREWORKS lit the skies as Fijians welcomed 2021 with a lot of hope and aspirations.

I was listening to the top 100 songs of 2020 on Radio Navtarang, and I thank Satya Nand and his team — Atishwar, Naman and the likes for keeping many of us awake until midnight with the lovely music, entertainment and jokes. Others I’m sure would have tuned into Radio Mirchi, Radio Sargam or Radio Fiji Two. Whatever station it was, we all look forward to 2021.

Yesterday’s front page of the trusted brand — The Fiji Times

with the words ‘Welcome 2021’ and with the picture of the members of the RAKO Pasefika and the youths of Rotuma added spice to the new day of 2021.

Yesterday, my family and I travelled by Fiji Link to the North to be with our loved ones and to pay a visit to the Naag Mandir in Nagigi (Labasa) and Shiv Parvath in Taganikula (Wainikoro), and today we will be making a move to the Hidden Paradise. As they say, nothing beats a holiday in your motherland with your loved ones. 2020 is water under the bridge, and it is important that we take valuable lessons learned last year into 2021, and take each day with positivity and an air of optimism.

I wholeheartedly thank our volunteers, medical personnel and members of the security forces — our heroes from the COVID-19 pandemic. I thank good Samaritans for reaching out to the poor and needy. Finally, a big salute to The Fiji Times for reaching us with reliable and informed news! Let’s pray that 2021 opens new doors and opportunities in terms of employment. Cheers Fiji! As I conclude, I pay tribute tho those who keep pages eight and nine of The Fiji Times alive! Wananavu Viti! To Fred, Sakeasi, Sanju, Koroiwasa, Eroni, Ana, Jo, Maikeli and the team — hats off for a wonderful 2020!
