Take stock

-

IF we are serious about life, we need to take stock and make plans, see what we have and look back at what we did wrong and lay down goals that you think you can achieve in 2021, if you take small steps towards it every day.

Let us stop blaming the coronavirus or the Government, just have faith and pray to

God who created the heavens and the Earth to help us use whatever work skills we have to start a small business to reach out or help others.

Forgive me, but if God can use a retired person like me to start earning money by helping others, then I am sure He can use the younger generation that have more energy, higher education and the gift of the gab to be a success in whatever fields they pursue.

A speaker at a weekly network marketing meeting in Sydney, Australia some years ago challenged the visitors that day with an unforgettable quote.

He said: “If we keep doing this New Year what we did last year, then by the end of this New Year, you will still be the same.

“If you were broke, poor and unsuccessful last year, by the end of this New Year, you will remain the same.

“Why? Because nothing changes — if nothing changes!”

The borders are still closed and life will be more difficult in Fiji if the current trend continues but as Christians we have a loving God and Saviour and we can all recite what Paul said: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13).

In Jeremiah 6, God is not happy with His people and is warning them of the destruction that He will allow to fall on them for their arrogance and disobedience.

In verse 16, God pleads with them: “Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein.”

In a sense, God is calling His people to stand still and take stock, He is still in control.

As we enter the New Year, I believe only those who have taken stock and planned to make changes in their lives, allowing God to be in control, will find rest for their souls in 2021.

Wishing you all a blessed and prosperous New Year 2021.
