Knights aim to win title

- By PAULINI CURUQARA

THE Victorian Knights are here on a mission and that is to win.

The Queen Victoria School basketball team fielded teams in the under-15 and U17 grades in the 2021 KAMPACIFIC Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship held at the Yat Sen Secondary School hall.

Head coach Isimeli Koroi said they came to participate with only two objectives.

“One is to develop the team for the National Championship and the second one is to put the name of the school, QVS, where it belongs,” Koroi said.

“Especially when it comes to competition, we don’t come and just make up the numbers, we come here to play and we have been training for this tournament, sacrificing our holidays to prepare for this tournament.

“Our preparation wasn’t easy; some of our students went down to Vanua Levu for the holidays but I am grateful that they wanted to play so what we did we contacted their families for their release from home to come and take part.”

He paid tribute to their sponsors Fiji Divine Care from USA who paid for their registration fees.

He also thanked the Queen Victoria School old boys in Suva for helping them hire their camping area.

“We also thank our parents as they have been forking out from their pockets and supporting the boys knowing their target for the National Championship.”
