YALALEVU V GREENSTAR, KASAVU V NALOVO IN NCC BATTLE

FOUR teams have been confirmed for the semi-finals of the Vodafone National Regional Club Championsh­ip 2020.

This is after the completion of the group stages at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

Defending champion Dayal's Steel Yalalevu Club Football qualified as winners from Group B after beating Max Nalovo 1-0 in the opening match last Friday.

Yalalevu also won 2-1 against Suva's Northpole FC yesterday while Nadi's Ezy Kool Max Nalovo managed to qualify after defeating Northpole 2-0 and qualified as runner-up from the group.

Rewa's Saram Hangers-sponsored Kasavu FC and Greenstar FC of Nadroga qualified from Group A.

Kasavu FC led Group A after beating Press FC 2-0 and Greenstar 3-0 while Greenstar FC defeated Press FC of Lautoka 3-1 to qualify as runner-up.

In the semi-finals Yalalevu FC will face Greenstar FC while Kasavu will play Max Nalovo FC on a date, time and venue to be decided.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said they would confirm the venue, date and time of the venue today(Monday)

“We will have a discussion with the Fiji FA Board and will decide when and where we will have the semi-finals and final,” Yusuf said.

“This weekend we organised a workshop for all coaches and the Club Licensing workshop for all district officials and we want all of them to participat­e in the workshop.”

Yusuf said the semi-finals would be interestin­g and exciting.

“Looking at the four teams, it is going to be thrilling semi-finals. The teams are equally good.

“We cannot predict who will win the tournament this year.”

Yalalevu CF has experience­d Ba reps Malakai Tiwa, Sanaila Waqanicaku, Junior Balbir Singh, Aisea Codro and youngstars such as Nabil Begg and Shivneel Singh.

The Greenstar team has the services of Nadroga reps Tomasi Tuicakau, Setareki Vola, Waisea Tale, Semesa Sacere,Taniela Raubula and Zain Ali.

Kasavu FC has district reps such as Rewa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau, Peniame Drova, Joseteki Tamudu, Setareki Hughes, Bruce Hughes, Gabrieli Matanisiqa, Anish Khem and Kavaia Rawaqa.

Nalovo FC team has Nadi reps Vereti Dickson, Josua Tawake, Christophe­r Kumar, Shaheel Goundar, Napolioni Qasevakati­ni, Serevi Waqa, Husseini Khan, Sakaraia Naisua and Vuniuci Tikomaimer­eke.

The tournament was held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
