Health and fitness campaign

Reducing the consumption of unhealthy food and drinks that are associated with NCDs is an important strategy for Fiji

-

COURTS and SportsWorld Health and Fitness Promotion is an initiative that aims to grant effective and affordable means and measures to Fiji citizens to improve their health and to protect future generations against non-communicable disease (NCDs.)

The economic costs of NCDs – the lost productivity, the burden on health and social welfare systems – are projected to be trillions of dollars globally.

It is true that NCDs affect all countries, however, developing countries – such as Fiji, feel their impact the most.

The percentage of people affected by NCDs will rise substantially in the country in the decades to come if left unchecked.

Reducing the consumption of unhealthy food and drinks that are associated with NCDs is an important strategy for Fiji.

The change in diet from traditionally consumed fish and fruits to highly processed imported foods are a factor contributing to obesity levels, particularly when combined with increasingly sedentary lifestyles.

With the wide range of appliances such as air fryers, steamers and juicers at Courts, people can now explore easier and healthier options of meal preparation.

Dietary risk is the greatest risk factor for cardiovascular diseases induced deaths in the Pacific.

Low physical activity imposes significant risk of death caused by cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, and we have just the right exercise equipment to get you moving in to great shape with Courts and SportsWorld fitness equipment.

Along with the wide range of products fitting the campaign, Courts and SportWorld, grant a platform for the general public to benefit from other services provided throughout this campaign period, such as health checks, nutrition advice, BMI setup, recipes and health tips through cookery demonstrations and combo/bundle deals of many health and fitness related items.

Moreover, since we must be the change we wish to see in this world, various wellness program has been initiated for all the staff members at Courts, encouraging the consumption of healthier food while cutting down on sweets, salty and junk food.

We believe this campaign will not only help eradicate the growing threat of NCDs in the livelihood of fellow Fijians, but will also help strengthen the longevous bond we share with them.

Much work lies ahead. However, with the growing awareness and rise in programs such as Courts and SportsWorld Health and fitness being implemented around the country, we will make a headway in the fight against non-communicable disease and strive together for a healthier Fiji.
