MOU signed
Media partners for TOPEX
THE Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation has signed a memorandum of understanding with The Fiji Times to be one of the three media partners for the Top Executive (TOPEX) Conference in May this year.
According to the FCEF chief executive officer Kameli Batiweti the media partners apart from The Fiji Times are Fiji Sun and Fijian Broadcasting Corporation.
Asco Motors, RC Manubhai, Coca-Cola Amatil (Fiji) Ltd, Pacific Manufactures Fiji Ltd, BSP Life, Paradise Beverages and Bondwell are the seven sponsors currently on board.
“They provide the sponsorship with cash and kind and for us to run this kind of program we need funding and finances.
“So these finances that these sponsors provide would assist us to be able to get TOPEX off the ground quicker than if we had to run it on our own and wait for people to pay for their subscription,” said Mr Batiweti.
He indicated there were more sponsors that would come on board.
“We only received seven now but there are more who indicated they would like to sponsor.”
The TOPEX conference is scheduled to be held from May 28 to 29 this year.
Mr Batiweti said they had 18 speakers who were going to participate over the two days at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.
“It starts at 10:30am on Friday and then we finish off at 5pm on Saturday.
“On Friday night we will be launching an FCEF initiative and then on Saturday night we are hoping to get a guest speaker to come and speak to us.”
Mr Batiweti said the program was waiting now for the speakers to confirm.
“So 85 per cent of the speakers have confirmed that they will participate.
“So once the other 15 per cent have confirmed then we will finalise the program and we will write to every individual speaker and enclose the program.”
Mr Batiweti indicated as an example that the first session could involve topics on the local economy, Fiji, the Pacific Islands and the world economy.
He also mentioned there will be discussions around tourism.
The theme is Resilient Business Ready for Tomorrow 2030 #TOPEXSpeaks.
The Fiji Times general manager Christine Lyons said the partnership offered professional bodies such as FCEF maximum brand exposure locally as well as globally – while also allowing industry leaders, civil society as well as policymakers to come together and discuss matters of topical and national interest.
“It also represents a collaborative partnership – which is marked by FCEF being able to use The Fiji Times as a platform to openly discuss issues of national and economic importance, while also providing our readers with compelling content,” she said.
