Healthier options

MOTIBHAI Group of Companies premier cafe, Zig Zag Café in Nadi has launched a new line of healthy based fruit drinks made from some of Fiji's freshest produce.

During the launch in Nadi yesterday, Motibhai Group of Companies executive director Bhupendra Patel said the new addition to the café's menu provided a healthier option for their customers.

“Zig Zag is a very popular place for Fijians to come to for good quality food at an affordable price and since we've opened, the café has been very popular,” he said.

“Then we saw that there was a very special demand for these very special health juices and the challenge for us has been getting fresh fruits at a consistent quality all the time.

“It’s difficult to put something on the menu when you don't have a regular supply and good quality so thank God we partnered with Greg Cornwall whom I've known for the last 35 years.

“This whole concept came together over coffee with Greg who also believed in this vision that we wanted to turn into a reality.”

Ice Fruit Fiji's Greg Cornwall said the drinks were made from fruit pulp produced a special pulping machine.

He said the frozen pulp of the fruits could be stored in a freezer ensuring a consistent supply.

“Bhupen made the decision to introduce this healthy drink so when a customer comes in there are drinks that are sugar free as you know NCDs are a problem in Fiji so this shows that everyone in Zig Zag is making sure that people's health is looked after,” he said.

“I was helping a Brazilian couple make the best ice blocks in Fiji and to make the best you have to get the freshest pulp from fruits.

So for Zig Zag Cafe, the pulp would be used to make these drinks so we entered a partnership where we will produce the pulp made from very fresh Fijian farms.”
